Evolution turns eligible Anime Vanguards units into stronger or mechanically expanded forms by consuming Gold, Essence Stones, unit-specific materials, and sometimes a quest item. The expensive part is not pressing the Evolve button; it is confirming that you own the correct unit form, that every material source is currently available, and that this evolution improves the team problem blocking your progress.

Some evolutions are direct recipes. Others are multi-step obtainment quests, require a named unit in a stage, track boss kills, transform an item, or consume another unit. Use the live evolution preview and Special Quests panel as the final authority before an irreversible action.

Choose which unit to evolve first

Evolve for team impact. A support evolution that improves every carry can be more valuable than a second isolated damage upgrade. A dependable carry evolution can be correct when Story or a farming route is blocked. A specialist evolution should wait until its Raid, Dungeon, Worldlines, or quest mechanic is actually your next objective.

Compare the complete cost with the benefit you can use now. Public guides often recommend established evolutions such as Song Jinwu to Monarch, Igros to Elite Knight, or Haruka Rin to Dancer, but those recommendations come from older comparison windows and account assumptions. Use them as examples of carry, frontline, and support priorities, then inspect the current form and team.

Do not sacrifice your only useful copy to finish a fusion or obtainment step without a replacement plan. The source may be slower or unavailable after an update. Lock the copies you intend to keep and rename or tag them if the inventory supports it.

Material routes and Essence planning

Unit-specific materials commonly point to Story, Legend Stages, Raids, Dungeons, shops, crafting, or evolution quests. Older documented examples include Shadow Traces from Double Dungeon, Blood-Red Armor from Double Dungeon, Red and Blue Chakra from Sand Village, and Cup of Coffee from Tokyo Railway Legend stages. These examples help identify the route type, but the live Codex and stage panel must confirm current quantities and availability.

Essence Stones form a second layer. Green Essence feeds colored Essence crafting; a set of colors can feed Rainbow Essence; evolution recipes then consume a mixture. Count the base Green cost of all planned crafts rather than only the Green line shown on the final recipe. Keep a reserve until the exact unit-specific drop is secured, because the route may change your priority.

The Evolution Materials guide provides a source-first checklist. Essence Stones explains crafting and dismantling without turning this hub into a duplicate recipe table.

Evolution quests need ordered tracking

Special quests can include stage wins, boss kills, summons, trait or stat rolls, unit placement, active abilities, and sacrifices. Some steps only progress in order. Open the quest panel before each session and confirm the counter changed after the first attempt; completing hours of the wrong stage or with the wrong unit form is avoidable.

For a kill condition, distinguish “unit equipped,” “unit placed,” “unit gets the final hit,” and “clear with unit.” For a sacrifice, record whether the unit must be evolved, whether traits or stats carry anywhere, and what item changes state. For a reward, check whether it is granted automatically or must be claimed in the quest menu.

The Evolution Quests guide gives an ordered session log without publishing unverified current counts as permanent facts.

What evolution does to other progression

Before confirming, record level, ascension, trait, individual stat ranks, Shiny status, Familiar, Memoria, and any quest attachment. Current community documentation says evolution can raise stat ranks and does not reset per-unit trait pity, but special transformations and transfers can have their own rules. The live preview is the final check.

Remove or inspect equipment if the interface warns that it cannot carry. A Shiny copy may need a different transfer plan than a normal copy. If an evolution creates a new in-game name, use that exact form when following a team or trait recommendation.

A safe farming loop

  1. Select one evolution target and capture the full recipe.
  2. Confirm the unique material’s current source and availability.
  3. Farm the most restrictive source first; it may also award generic resources.
  4. Recount Essence and Gold after obtaining the unique piece.
  5. Craft only the colors and Rainbow Essence still missing.
  6. Reopen the preview, verify the unit copy, and read the resulting form.
  7. Confirm once, then test the evolved unit before spending more rerolls or chips.

This order reduces waste because the rare route determines whether the evolution can finish. It also prevents filling the inventory with crafted colors for a unit you later decide not to evolve.

Evolution FAQ

Where is the evolution area?

Community guides place the Evolve room on the west side of the lobby, with an Evolve circle or interaction. Lobby layouts can change, so use signs or the Codex navigation if the location moves.

Does every rarity evolve?

No. Eligibility belongs to the specific unit and form. Public guides commonly describe Mythic, Exclusive, and Secret evolutions, but the live preview determines the current roster.

Should I craft all materials in advance?

No. Secure the unique piece and confirm the exact recipe first. Crafting early can consume Essence needed by a higher-impact unit.
