Units are the playable towers you collect, place, upgrade, and build around in Anime Vanguards: Holy Retribution. A useful Unit Dex must do more than list character names: it should tell you what a unit does, where its current version comes from, whether the source is still available, and which systems change its performance. Start with the Unit List when you need a roster lookup, then move to Stats or Abilities before spending rare materials.

The live roster changes across banners, modes, Battlepasses, events, evolutions, and update resets. This hub uses the names shown in the game and official 14.5 changelog. It does not split one unit into separate pages merely because players use an anime name or a different spelling.

Currently documented Update 14.5 units

The official 14.5 changelog introduced five units through four different progression routes. These cards are an update snapshot, not a complete roster. Availability can change after a Dungeon closes, Worldlines resets, or a Battlepass season ends.

How to evaluate a unit before building it

First identify the unit’s job. A primary damage dealer needs enough early contribution to stabilize the map and enough scaling to remain relevant. A support unit should be judged by buff uptime, debuff reliability, crowd control, range, placement limit, and whether its effect stacks. A farm unit is an economy decision: deployment and upgrade costs must be compared with how early the extra Yen pays back.

Next inspect the exact form. Base, evolved, fused, transformed, Vanguard, Shiny, and Serialized versions can have different availability or visuals, and an evolution may add mechanics rather than merely raising numbers. Record the displayed name before using a guide. Anime aliases are helpful for conversation but should not override the in-game identity.

Finally test the unit in the mode you care about. Story rewards a stable early curve; Infinite rewards long-term scaling; Raids and Dungeons can demand cleansing, elements, boss answers, or special mechanics; Worldlines changes the value of elements through weather. A unit that dominates one comparison can be awkward in another.

Read stats in context

Damage, SPA, and Range are the core visible comparison fields, but none tells the full story alone. SPA is the interval between attacks, so a lower value usually means a faster attack cycle. Range must cover the useful part of a path or the target area for a support effect. Damage needs attack count, area shape, target cap, critical behavior, status effects, and ability uptime beside it.

Use a repeatable stage and keep level, ascension, evolution, trait, stats, Familiar, Memoria, and external buffs visible when comparing two units. A screenshot of a final upgrade number without those conditions is not a reliable basis for transferring traits or sacrificing another unit.

The Unit Stats guide provides a compact comparison record. The Stat Ranks guide explains how the separate Damage, SPA, and Range rolls modify the unit.

Abilities, Familiars, and Memoria

Abilities can change targeting, status application, transformations, summons, global buffs, boss interaction, or manual timing. Read the activation condition and cost before calling a large percentage “always on.” If an effect requires a unit group, element, debuff, or manual input, build the team around that condition deliberately.

Familiars occupy their own system and may be broadly equippable, limited by rarity, or exclusive to particular units. Update 14.5 added Vanguard Familiars and Demon Familiars; the official changelog explicitly warned that Vanguard Familiar passives could change. Memoria are separate equippable items, can be tied to a unit, and have their own trait-reroll layer. Check both slots before assuming a showcase represents the base unit.

Availability and account safety

The collection NPC shows units your account owns, while banners, mode panels, shops, quests, passes, and the Codex reveal current routes. Confirm a route is open before spending Gems or buying its currency. “Unobtainable” can mean a retired event source, not that existing copies disappeared.

Do not sacrifice, fuse, normalize, transfer, or evolve a valuable copy until the confirmation screen is understood. Shiny Transfer consumes the source Shiny according to current community documentation. Stat Transfer can also move selected stats while the sacrificed unit loses other progression. Read the final game warning each time because these systems affect rare units permanently.

A practical roster plan

Build one dependable early carry, one scaling or boss-focused damage option, one support or control slot, and enough economy to reach upgrades on time. Fill the remaining slots for the map: cleansing for a snare mechanic, elements for Worldlines weather, multi-hit or area coverage for enemy patterns, or an extra farm slot when the mode allows a slow setup.

Avoid upgrading every new pull. Compare the resource path in Evolution, the team job in Meta, and the current source in Items. A modest unit you can fully evolve and support often progresses an account farther than a rarer unit whose materials or Memoria are currently inaccessible.

Unit questions players ask

Is this a complete Anime Vanguards unit list?

No. The dedicated Unit List is a currently documented index and clearly labels update snapshots. The live Codex and collection remain the deciding inventory after a patch.

Are the newest units automatically the best?

No. New units can have powerful mechanics, but cost, mode, team requirements, availability, and testing quality matter. See the Tier List for a version-labeled comparison.

Should I reroll a trait before evolving?

Trait pity is tracked per unit, and current community documentation says evolving does not reset it. Still read the current interface before committing a large reroll stack.
