The Anime Vanguards traits list is best used as a vocabulary and decision guide, not as a promise that one label is always optimal. Traits modify a unit, while abilities, evolution, Damage/SPA/Range ranks, placement limit, mode rules, Familiar, and Memoria determine whether that modification actually helps. Open the Trait Index beside Mandra before spending reroll currency because the live panel is the authority for current wording and rates.
Trait families at a glance
These groupings describe how players evaluate the names. Exact percentages, tiers, odds, and restrictions can change, so they belong to the in-game Trait Index rather than a static promise here.
Read every line of the effect
A large headline bonus can be paired with a placement cap, conditional trigger, or stat that the unit cannot exploit. Compare the complete text. If a trait reduces the number of placements, calculate team coverage after that reduction. If it changes SPA, test whether the displayed interval and actual attack cycle both improve. If it adds range, place the unit on the map where the extra ring matters.
The same trait can have different value on a one-placement carry, a multi-placement support, and a farm unit. A support may prefer reliable reach or effect uptime over personal damage. A carry may benefit from a rarer broad-power trait only when the rest of its build is finished.
Match traits to unit jobs
Define the unit’s job before selecting a target. For a boss killer, record boss damage, full cycle, ability uptime, and required setup. For control, measure how often the effect lands and whether enemies resist it. For a buffer, check team gain, range, stacking rules, and placement count. For farming, confirm that the trait changes income rather than merely damage.
Use a repeatable stage and hold every other variable constant. Comparing one unit in Story with another in Worldlines mixes weather, enemy rules, and run length. The Best Traits guide provides role-specific choices, while Unit Stats explains controlled tests.
Protect good rolls
Select the exact copy, lock it, and confirm its portrait and form before opening Mandra’s interface. If the game offers a keep-or-replace choice, read both sides before confirming. Never assume the previous result will remain after another click. Screenshots are useful when several copies share a name.
Stop when the current trait clears the content you are targeting. A rare theoretical upgrade may consume hundreds of future attempts without changing the next clear. Reserve a currency floor for newly obtained carries or an evolution that may need a different build.
Audit a trait recommendation
When another guide recommends a trait, record its update date, exact unit form, role, mode, placement count, and complete build. Then compare the live Trait Index text with the wording in that recommendation. A result shown on a maxed unit with premium support cannot be transferred directly to an early account.
Separate verified facts from judgment. The trait name and current client description are facts; calling it “best” is a judgment tied to assumptions. If those assumptions do not match your roster, keep the recommendation as a test candidate rather than a spending order. This short audit prevents an old tier list from overriding current evidence.
Traits List FAQ
Is Monarch always the best trait?
No. It is widely treated as a premium result, but its live restrictions and a unit’s role matter. A support, farm unit, or multi-placement strategy may prefer another effect.
Where are trait odds shown?
Check the live Trait Index at Mandra. Treat external percentages as snapshots until they match the current client.
