The Anime Vanguards meta is not one six-unit answer. Story, Infinite, Raids, Worldlines, Dungeon, Odyssey, and competitive modes reward different curves, elements, mechanics, and amounts of setup. Use this hub to turn a ranking into a team you can actually deploy with the units, traits, stats, Familiars, Memoria, and resources on your account.
Public Update 14.5 lists still disagree on final placements for the five newest units. Established comparisons commonly keep History’s Strongest near the top of general recommendations and separate DPS, support, crowd control, utility, and PvP roles. Treat those boards as a shortlist, then confirm the current mode and build assumptions yourself.

Current comparison snapshot
The following is a decision index, not an official developer ranking. It reflects public 14.5 lists checked September 2, 2026 and keeps the newest units provisional until their full builds are comparable.
Do not read this table as an instruction to abandon a finished team. A new unit can require a Dungeon drop, Worldlines climb, Battlepass tier, exclusive Memoria, or costly rerolls before it outperforms an evolved unit you already own.
The six jobs a stable team may need
An opening carry handles early waves at a cost your economy can support. A scaling carry takes over once upgrades, transformations, summons, or stacking passives come online. Support increases damage, attack speed, range, critical output, or another team resource. Control slows, stuns, freezes, repulses, or otherwise buys attacks. A mechanic answer cleanses, bypasses mitigation, matches an element rule, or handles a boss phase. Economy produces additional Yen or reduces the time required to reach the expensive pieces.
Not every stage needs all six as separate units. One unit can cover multiple jobs, and some modes disable or weaken a system. Boss Rush has historically included traitless variants; Worldlines weather can raise or reduce element value; Raids can introduce mechanics such as Snare that make cleansing more important than a small DPS gain.
Build around your mode
For Story, favor a smooth deployment curve. Place one efficient damage unit, stabilize the lane, add economy only if it pays back before the difficult waves, then add support and a second damage profile. Overinvesting in six placements before upgrading any of them usually creates a weak middle game.
For Infinite, long-term scaling, global utility, persistent control, and sustainable economy matter more. A team that reaches wave 20 quickly is not automatically the team that survives much later. Record where the run fails: enemy health, speed, immunity, boss leakage, range, or insufficient income each points to a different fix.
For Raids and Dungeons, read the stage panel before queueing. Bring the specified element or mechanic response and make sure at least one player can cover it reliably. A nominal top-tier unit that cannot interact with the stage mechanic may contribute less than an accessible specialist.
For Worldlines, start with the floor’s weather and banned or favored elements. Do not paste a single team across every floor. For Gauntlet or PvP-style play, use the rules shown for that bracket because modifiers, trait settings, and opponent state can change the comparison.
Traits, stats, and equipment change the answer
A ranking should disclose whether units are evolved, what trait they use, the Damage/SPA/Range stat quality, and whether a Familiar or Memoria is required. Monarch’s one-placement tradeoff can be exceptional on a low-placement unit and inefficient when a unit’s value comes from deploying many copies. Fortune belongs in an economy calculation, not on every damage dealer.
Memoria and exclusive Familiars can transform a unit’s ceiling or team interaction. Update 14.5 added five Memoria for its five units and new Vanguard and Demon Familiars. Compare the realistic version you can build, not a showcase with inaccessible companions and perfect rolls.
Upgrade order during a match
Use failure evidence. If early enemies leak, deploy or upgrade the opening carry before greed. If the lane is stable but the boss survives, move resources into the unit that answers the boss rather than upgrading every farm. Add support when the affected damage units are already placed in its effective range. Sell or reposition only when the current mode allows it and the lost investment is smaller than the gain.
Watch attack coverage, not just the upgrade panel. A range increase that reaches a second bend can add more real attacks than a modest damage roll. Faster SPA matters only if animation, target acquisition, or downtime does not erase the benefit.
How to use tier lists without wasting resources
- Confirm the version and check date.
- Find the list for your mode and role, not only the overall board.
- Compare the documented form with the copy in your inventory.
- Check evolution materials, trait plan, stat quality, Familiar, and Memoria.
- Run the same stage before and after one change.
- Stop investing when the team already clears the target reliably; save resources for a missing job.
The Items hub helps locate the resources behind the build, while Evolution explains how to avoid consuming materials before a unit is ready. If you are new, use the Beginner guide before following an endgame ranking.
Meta FAQ
What is the best Anime Vanguards unit right now?
Current community lists often place History’s Strongest at or near the safest general recommendation for the 14.5 window. That is not an official grade and does not replace mode, source, or build checks.
Should every team use two farm units?
No. A second economy slot helps only when the stage lasts long enough for both to repay their setup cost and the reduced combat roster still survives the opening.
Are the Update 14.5 units fully ranked?
Not consistently. The official changelog confirms their identity and sources, but public lists still label several as awaiting comparable testing. Keep them provisional until the exact build and mode are disclosed.
