Farm units generate or improve in-match Yen so expensive carries reach upgrades sooner. The best Anime Vanguards farm unit is not the one with the largest final income in isolation; it is the one that repays its placement and upgrades before the stage becomes dangerous. A farm slot also replaces a combat or support slot, so economy must be measured against survival.

Current farm-unit references
Community trait documentation specifically names Sprintwagon and Takaroda as farm units when explaining the Fortune trait. That establishes their economy role, not a permanent ranking. The live Unit List, Codex, and ability descriptions should confirm current income and upgrade values.
Other units may reduce upgrade costs, generate Yen through conditions, or combine economy with combat. Compare their condition and reliability. A unit that earns only after kills or manual actions should be tested separately from a fixed per-wave farm.
Calculate payback
Add placement and every farm upgrade purchased. Subtract cumulative income received. The payback wave is when the result reaches zero. Money earned after the stage is effectively decided has little value.
Compare one and two farm units on the same map. If the second farm delays the first carry enough to cause a leak, it is not profitable for that route even if its final balance is higher. Include sell value only if the current mode allows selling and you actually use it before the final fight.
Story, Infinite, and squads
In short Story acts, use zero or one farm unit unless the team stabilizes very cheaply. First-clear progress matters more than a beautiful late balance. In Infinite, one or two economy units can pay back over many waves and accelerate expensive scaling.
In a squad, assign economy rather than making every player copy it. One player can handle the opening while another develops farm units, then fund or build the agreed carry depending on game mechanics. Communicate before the wave starts.
Fortune and other traits
Current community documentation describes Fortune as increasing farm-unit income and reducing upgrade cost on non-farm units. Verify the live trait text before rerolling. A farm unit benefits only if the additional income saves more time or Yen than another useful trait would.
Do not chase a rare damage trait on a pure economy unit. Range and SPA may also be irrelevant unless the farm has attacks or an aura that uses them. Preserve rerolls for the units whose role changes with the result.
Upgrade order
Place enough damage to survive. Deploy the first farm, then alternate farm and carry upgrades based on the next dangerous wave. Stop farming when the remaining waves are too few for another upgrade to repay. Shift all later Yen into the units that finish the map.
If the boss leaks, check whether one earlier farm upgrade should have gone into damage. If ordinary waves leak, move economy later or use a cheaper opening carry.
Common farm mistakes
- Ranking by final income without payback time.
- Placing two farms before any defense.
- Maxing farm after the last useful payout.
- Using an old event or mode value as current.
- Forgetting that a farm occupies a roster and placement slot.
- Calling unattended external macros a farming strategy.
Farm Units FAQ
How many farm units are best?
Use the fewest that reach the required carry upgrades sooner without risking the opening. Short modes may use none; long modes may support two.
Does Fortune make every unit a farm unit?
No. Its effect differs by farm role under current documentation. Read the live trait and unit ability.
